Objectives

As a confidant, you play a vital role in providing emotional support, advice and guidance to people facing challenges, problems or conflicts in the workplace. You act as a trusted and confidential source to whom employees can turn to raise concerns, report inappropriate behaviour or ask for help with personal issues.

This mandatory training will give you the knowledge and skills you need to function effectively in this important role. You will learn about the legal frameworks, ethical standards and confidentiality that are essential for confidant work. You will also develop communication skills to conduct open and supportive conversations, manage conflicts and balance the interests of the parties involved.

From 1 December 2023, employers who employ 50 employees or more are required to appoint a confidant. The confidant must be a mandatory part of the employer’s staff.
