Objectives

This course aims to acquire theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and a sense of responsibility concerning working at height.

Understand safety concepts of working at height and supervise and/or control employees assembling, reassembling, or dismantling scaffolding.

  • Regulations on scaffolding assembly and use.
  • Study before assembly of fixed scaffolding.
  • Placement and assembly plan.
  • Definition of ‘Permissible Load’.
  • Provision of documents.
  • Correct anchoring and anchoring plan.
  • Control of racking during use, assembly, conversion, and dismantling.
  • Safe assembly of fixed racks.
  • Safe conversion of fixed racks.
  • Influence of weather conditions.
  • Calculation notes.
  • Dynamic force calculations.
  • Material list calculations.
  • Inspection of assembled racking.
  • Use of checklist.

PRACTICE

  • Preparation of assembly plans.
  • Calculating maximum permissible load.
  • Discussing and indicating anchors
  • Determining the strength of scaffolding.
  • Calculation of undercuts in an excavation.
