Target Audience

Employees working with a rolling bridge with cable operation and/or remote control.

Objectives

Acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to learn how to operate a rolling bridge effectively and safely.

To train operators so that they can preventively report defects/faults and thus prevent accidents/injuries. To teach operation and driving techniques to reduce damage to the environment caused by transport.

Course content

THEORY

  • Determine, analyse and control risks specific to the rolling bridge and space.
  • Basic legislation and responsibilities of rolling bridge operator.
  • Performing a safety function.
  • Inspection requirements of hoisting equipment and stop equipment.
  • Stopping techniques and associated stopping factors.
  • Determining the weight, centre of gravity and stop points of a load.
  • The use of different attachment materials with their scope of application and limitations.
  • Special lifting tools: plate clamp, lifting clamp, hoists, lifting beam.
  • The economic aspects of maintenance.
  • The different elements of visual inspection.
  • Points of attention when manipulating a load safely.
  • The conventional communication signals between persons.
  • Different types of overhead cranes.
  • Construction and drives of an overhead crane.
  • Types of controls and their operation.
  • Emergency devices and safety rules.
  • Performing a start-up check and LMRA.

PRACTICE

  • Performing the LMRA (Last Minute Risk Analysis).
  • Performing a start-up check before using the rolling bridge.
  • Using the controls correctly.
  • Use of conventional communication signals.
  • Techniques to avoid or reduce pendulum in a load.
  • Performing precise manoeuvres with a load.
  • Reversing loads with the rolling bridge.
